FAQ

1. Will you deliver on a weekend or evening?
DL Skip Bins is operational six days a week and we can deliver skip bins to you on Saturdays (8am – 12pm). Please book your weekend deliveries with good advance notice (we prefer 24 hours notice) to avoid disappointment. Contact us to make a booking.
2. How much notice do I need to give?
To be guaranteed a skip bin on the day you require it, we recommend that you place a booking at least one day prior to delivery. However, we understand that sometimes it doesn’t work that way. In some circumstances we can do same day delivery if called before 9am, but we cannot guarantee this.
3. What size bin should I get?
It depends on the job you are doing. The size you require will vary based on whether it’s a one room clean out, a small project like cleaning out a garage or something more intensive like a backyard makeover

Remember that one cubic metre is around a trailer load. See our article on skip bin sizes for our bin size estimates for particular jobs.
4. Do the skip bins have a weight limit?
All of our ‘General Waste’ skip bins have a weight limit which must not be exceeded. Additional charges may be incurred for filled bins which exceed this limit.
5. Do the skip bins have access doors?
All our 3, 4, 6, 8 & 12 cubic metre skips have access doors which face your property for filling ease.
6. How high can I load the bin?
It is very important that the skip bins are not filled beyond the top line due to occupational health and safety legislation which requires full skip bins to be covered while in transit. If there is rubbish beyond the rim of the bin we will not be able to pick it up. This is an inconvenience for both us and the customer. This is where it is important to consider which size DL Skip Bin to hire. Consider getting one of the bigger ones if you think overfilling may be a problem.
7. Is there anything I must not put in the bin?
Yes. The law states that the following materials cannot be placed in skip bins: human or animal waste, hazardous waste and liquids, oil, vehicle tyres, paint, asbestos.

Paint tins can be put in skip bins, but only if they’re empty or if the paint inside is in dried solid form. If you need to get rid of paint tins, leave their lids off until they have dried out and then place them in the bin.

If you put batteries in the bin, they need to be placed in a spot that is visible to the driver.
For safe disposal of hazardous waste and liquids, you should contact your local council.

If you’re unsure about anything, it’s best to contact us on 0417 849 664 and we can tell you what to do.
8. Can you leave the bin on the street?
No. The bin must be placed on your property, driveway or garden.

If you want to place the bin on the street you will need to obtain a special permit from your council and you will need this before we deliver the bin. The procedure may take a few days and you may need to pay a fee.
9. Will the skip truck fit into my driveway or under my carport or garage?
DL Skip Bins trucks requires the driveway to be at least 2.8 meters with no low wires or overhanging trees for us to place the skip bin. DL Skip Bins will always try to place the skip in the best position for you. However, sometimes this is not possible as garages and carports can be difficult due to the skip lifting arms.
10. For how long can I use the bin?
Standard bin hire is for five days. Long term skip bin hire is available at an additional charge of $10 per day. If you require the bin for longer than five days simply contact us and we can make an arrangement.
11. What payment options are available?
DL Skip Bins offers flexible payment options and we have EFTPOS facilities. We accept cash, EFTPOS and online payments from major credit cards (Visa and MasterCard). If you are not paying online we will collect payment upon delivery of the skip bin.
12. Will a GST tax invoice be supplied?
Yes. If required an invoice can be sent out after delivery.
13. Do I need to be present at the time the skip is delivered?
There is no need to be present provided that the skip hire has been paid for and all delivery instructions have been received prior to delivery.
14. Can I move the skip bin after delivery?
No, the skip bin must remain in the same position as it was delivered. Moving a skip bin could result in the truck not being able to retrieve it when full. This can cause damage to your property or to the bins, for which you would be held liable.
